Honey-Glazed Ham

Keto Honey-Glazed Ham: A Sweet and Savory Holiday Classic

This Keto Honey-Glazed Ham is everything you love about a holiday centerpiece — golden, glossy, and perfectly caramelized — but made completely low-carb. The glaze combines butter, sugar-free honey, and warm spices to create that classic sweet-salty flavor without the sugar crash. It’s rich, festive, and absolutely crowd-pleasing — a true showstopper for Christmas, Easter, or any family celebration.

The Flavor That Brings Everyone to the Table

There’s something special about the aroma of ham baking in the oven, filling the kitchen with warmth and anticipation. I remember the first time I made this keto version — no one could tell it wasn’t the “real” honey glaze. The mix of cinnamon, cloves, and Dijon gives it just the right balance of sweet and savory, while the buttery glaze clings to the edges, turning beautifully caramelized in the oven. It’s comfort food with a touch of elegance.

What Makes This Recipe Shine

  • Sugar-Free Honey Substitute: Gives that traditional sticky sweetness while keeping carbs low.
  • Brown Erythritol: Adds depth and a touch of molasses-like flavor.
  • Dijon Mustard & Vinegar: Cut through the richness with a bit of tang.
  • Warm Spices: Cinnamon and cloves bring cozy holiday flavor without overpowering the meat.
  • Butter: Because everything tastes better when it’s bathed in butter.

Cooking Tip for the Perfect Glaze

Don’t rush the glazing process — it’s what makes the ham truly special. Baste it several times during baking so each layer builds flavor and shine. For that final “wow” moment, broil it for just a couple of minutes to caramelize the surface. Keep a close eye on it — it turns from golden to burnt fast!

Perfect Keto Pairings

Round out your holiday plate with:

  • Roasted Brussels sprouts with bacon and garlic.
  • Creamy cauliflower mash to soak up that extra glaze.
  • A bright side salad with lemon vinaigrette to balance the richness.

A Festive Favorite Year After Year

This ham has become a staple at my own holiday table — not just because it looks impressive, but because it’s simple to make and everyone loves it. Keto or not, no one misses the sugar. Slice it thick, drizzle with extra glaze, and enjoy the best of both worlds: classic holiday flavor and keto-friendly goodness.

Equipment

  • Roasting Pan
  • Small Saucepan
  • Basting Brush
  • Oven

Ingredients

Ham and Glaze

  • 1 fully cooked bone-in ham 8–10 pounds, spiral-cut preferred
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup sugar-free honey substitute such as keto honey syrup
  • 2 tbsp brown erythritol sweetener
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Line a roasting pan with foil and place a roasting rack inside. Set ham cut-side down on the rack.
  • In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add sugar-free honey, brown erythritol, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, cloves, and black pepper. Stir until smooth and simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • Brush half of the glaze evenly over the ham, making sure it seeps into the cuts between slices if spiral-cut.
  • Cover the ham loosely with foil and bake for 1 hour. Remove foil, baste with more glaze, and continue baking uncovered for another 45–60 minutes, basting every 20 minutes, until heated through and caramelized.
  • For a glossy finish, broil for 2–3 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning. Remove from oven and rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  • Serve warm with any extra glaze drizzled over the slices.

Notes

This glaze delivers all the holiday sweetness of traditional honey ham with none of the sugar. Pair with roasted Brussels sprouts or cauliflower mash for a full keto Christmas feast.
